American Zinc Recycling LLC Announces $100 Million Committed Equity Facility From Its Major Investors

PITTSBURGH--(Business Wire)--American Zinc Recycling Corp. (“AZR”) today announced the entry into a $100 million committed equity facility with its major investors. AZR also announced that it has entered into an amended credit agreement between the Company and a group of banks led by the Bank of Montreal.

In addition, AZR confirmed that the repairs to the zinc metal refinery in Mooresboro remain on schedule and are anticipated to be fully funded through insurance proceeds and the equity facility. The restart is expected to occur in the first quarter of 2020.

American Zinc Recycling LLC Provides Updates on Rutherford, NC and Calumet, IL Facilities

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American Zinc Recycling LLC (“AZR”) today issued an update on the repair and restart of its Rutherford County, North Carolina zinc refining facility owned by its subsidiary American Zinc Recycling Corp. (“AZR Corp.”). The rebuilding project is proceeding according to schedule and the restart is targeted for the first quarter of 2020. Staffing is underway, and when fully operational the plant is expected to produce 155,000 tons of Special High Grade (SHG) zinc metal annually.

AZR further reported that it will be repairing and replacing with state of the art equipment portions of AZR Corp.’s electric arc furnace (“EAF”) dust recycling facility in Calumet, Illinois, and that the company is actively pursuing other potential sites to enable it to expand its EAF dust recycling capability, which is the largest in the North America.

American Zinc Recycling announces plans to repair and restart the zinc smelter in Mooresboro NC

The Board of Directors of American Zinc Recycling Corp. (“AZR”) announced that the company will repair and restart its zinc smelter in Mooresboro NC as soon as practicable. The damage to the plant caused by the recent fire was largely limited to a discrete area of the plant, and there were no reported injuries from the fire.
 
Rodrigo Daud, CEO of AZR, commented: “We look forward to repairing and restarting our Mooresboro plant, which had been fully constructed and was successfully producing zinc before the fire. The fire began from an ancillary unit that was adjacent to the cell house, and we will be redesigning this unit to minimize the possibility of future incidents. The response of the fire department and the other first responders, along with the safety focused, specific actions of our employees, prevented any injuries and enabled the fire to be contained.
